The Tools I Pay For
Three things are true of every link on this page. I pay for the tool with my own money. The referral pays mungbeans.io a commission if you subscribe, at no extra cost to you. And nothing here was written or altered in exchange for compensation.
That last one is the part worth defending. A referral gives me an interest in your subscribing, which is exactly the interest that produces bad reviews of good products and worse reviews of bad ones. The defense is not a promise about my character. It is that this page names what each tool cannot do alongside what it can, and that the same disclosure sits on every placement elsewhere on the site. If a tool stops earning its keep it comes off the page, referral or not.
Godel Terminal
what I use mostBloomberg-style research terminal in a browser
$996/yr against Bloomberg's roughly $27,000
A browser-based research terminal with a Bloomberg-style command interface: DES, FOCUS, TAS, HDS. Real-time quotes, filings, financials, ownership and news, at $996 a year against Bloomberg's roughly $27,000.
I use it for the filing and ownership work behind the deep dives, the part that used to mean six browser tabs and a spreadsheet. It handles research and analysis; order execution and dealer chat are not in it, so it sits alongside a broker rather than replacing one. There is a 14-day trial, so the cheapest way to judge it is to run it against whatever you use now.

- Good for
- Primary research. Filings, ownership, transcripts and real-time data in one command-driven window.
- Not for
- A broker. No order execution, no dealer chat.

Simply Wall St
Visual company reports, one stock at a time
free tier, paid plans from about $10/mo billed yearly
Company reports built around a single visual summary of value, future, past, health and dividend, with the reasoning written out underneath. The free tier covers five company reports a month, which is enough to check a name the screener surfaces.
It answers a different question than a terminal does. Godel gives me the raw filing; Simply Wall St gives me a fast second read on whether a name is worth the afternoon. The valuation work is model-driven and the growth inputs come from analyst consensus, so I treat the output as a starting position rather than a conclusion. On the names in the deep dives I have disagreed with it more than once.
- Good for
- A quick, readable second opinion on a single ticker.
- Not for
- A source of truth. Consensus-driven, and it does not replace the filing.
